What is biometric authentication and how to set it up

Binance now supports FIDO Biometric Authentication on the Binance App. You can use your face or fingerprint for Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) , in addition to using email, SMS, Binance Authenticator , and Google Authenticator . This can help increase the security of your account and better protect your assets.

What is biometric authentication?

Biometric authentication is a security measure that uses human body characteristics, such as fingerprints and face, to authenticate users. This is usually a required step to update your account settings, authorize withdrawals, etc., for the purpose of protecting your account.
Binance has implemented the FIDO protocol, which enables Biometric Authentication on the Binance App. Your biometric information will be stored only on your device and authentication will be performed on the device. This means that your information will not be shared with Binance or transmitted over the network to any third parties.
Benefits of using Biometric Authentication
  • Confidentiality : Face/fingerprint information is a separate form of personal information that cannot be copied. This information will only be saved on your device and will not be transmitted to any third-party networks or clouds.
  • Convenience : With a simple look or touch, you can complete 2FA within seconds. You don't need to manually check and enter verification codes from your 2FA devices.
